Wholesaling Real Estate Guide
This is a continuation of “The Great Escape” audio podcast reality show with Eric Thiele. Eric has been given assignments each week to help him get his wholesaling business started. In this episode, Eric catches us up on the challenges he has faced and the successes he has achieved over the last few months.
Eric: So, when I walk out the door, I’m taking a whole bunch of knowledge with me, and I don’t know what they’re going to do. Hopefully they contract me back for a higher price.
Sean: I’m sure they will, because they’re going to understand your value. So for people listening, he actually manages… Tell me what again…
Eric: Well, I manage servers for the State of Texas that manage Medicare and Medicaid payments for all the citizens in Texas. I think the dollar amount is something like $60 billion in payments that flow through these systems. Just a couple of weeks ago, there was a situation that arose that if I didn’t get particular files uploaded to the federal government, the state was going to get a $21 million fine. I finally figured out what the problem was and made it happen. Let me tell you, I was quite popular that day. But, yeah, it’s kind of interesting, apart from the real estate, just how business people and mangers sometimes make decisions that elude you from a logical point of view.
They’re coming from my name and my billing rate on a line on a spreadsheet. They figured, hey that spreadsheet looks better without that line in it. They’re not giving any thought to what this is really going to do. But I don’t want to sound like a whiner, because I’m actually looking at this going, “Hey, what have I been whining to you about the last several months? I have no time. I can’t do everything because I’m working 60 hours a week.” So I’m viewing this as a message from God, “Hey, here’s a gift. What are you going to do with it?”
Sean: Yeah, I agree because things happen where a point comes in your life where there’s a path, defining moments when things happen. So many people are in a position or they’re in a job, or they’re listening right now and they work 60-70 hours a week. They come home to their kids, and they come home to their wife, and they do that family life. It’s almost like the business comes secondary, which obviously there’s priority, but we also want to build the life for ourselves to be able to do that. So I completely understand the struggle. So, when you wake up on Friday morning, you’re going to take a long holiday weekend, and just go party or what?
Eric: Absolutely. I’m taking my honey and going home to Chicago. I’m going to pack up my car and head up to Traverse City, Michigan, and enjoy what fun there is in Traverse City. That’s half of the northern tip of the lower peninsula of Michigan, and it’s quite beautiful. A lot of vineyards and they have 400 foot dunes that flow straight into Lake Michigan. It’s really a nice spot.
Sean: That’s awesome.
